“The main function of air filters is to remove particles suspended in the air, to meet the specifications of the Clean Room, avoiding contamination in production processes, operating rooms, food handling, etc., maintaining the requirements of current standards of air quality, number of particles in the environment, air flow, promoting stability in production processes.

In the case of production processes, the Clean Room adds value to the product. In the medical field, they substantially reduce hospital infections. That's what engineer Eduardo Zanizello, 37 years old, Linter Filters' Technical Commercial Manager says…

The Technical Commercial Manager of Linter Filters explains that the Clean Room is equipped with an air conditioning system, which includes the filtering system. Filters can be located in the system in different ways, depending on the design adopted in the project.

“The most suitable system for each environment is usually pre-established by companies specialized in air conditioning projects and engineering, national and international standards that establish the filtration class that each type of filter used, the maximum concentration of particles/m³ to define the ISO class (ranging from 1 to 9) where the lower the class, the greater the air filtration efficiency.

According to Eduardo Zanizello, after defining the concept of the system by a designer, the types of filters are established (coarse, medium, fine and absolute) that will be used to name the classification of air filtration, given the production process to be implemented.

Basically, explains the engineer, in a system it is possible to have three stages:

1st stage: Coarse Filter, responsible for filtering the largest particles (>10µm), equipped with cheaper filters and frequent replacement number, to protect the subsequent stages. Used in TAE (G0/G1) conditioner mixing box (G3/G4)

2st stage: Fine Filter, responsible for filtering fine particles (>1,0µm), protects the Absolute Filter. Used after the fan in the conditioner.

3st stage: Absolute Filter responsible for filtering the smallest particles (>0,3µm), and is essential for cleanroom classification.
